At Park West Dental Associates, we not only keep your teeth at the top of our list of health, but your gums as well. Many people think that if they focus on their teeth, their gums are not important; that could not be further from the truth. In order to have a solid foundation, you have to work from the ground up, which is why we offer periodontal therapy for our patients.
As part of our family dentistry practice, we make it a top priority to make sure your gums are as healthy as possible. Surprisingly, more than 80% of the population has some form of gum disease. Though some may think it’s not a big deal, gum disease can lead to more serious problems down the road if not taken care of, like heart disease and tooth loss. The good thing about gum disease, however, is that it’s completely reversible if caught early.
Our periodontal therapy begins with a visit to Dr. Kevin Hogan, and he will be able to assess the current state of your smile and gums. We will perform scaling and root-planing of the gums, that way we can remove the bacterium that causes harm.
Some signs of periodontal disease are tenderness of the gums. Also, if your gums are swollen or bleed when you brush your teeth, contact our office immediately so we will be able to assist you as soon as possible.
At Park West Dental Associates, Dr. Kevin Hogan provides quality comprehensive dental care to you and your family. Our Mt. Pleasant, SC dental office serves patients from Isle of Palms, Sullivan’s Island, Daniel Island, and West Ashley. Call us today to schedule your next appointment.
