Tyler Alderman – Mt. Pleasant, SC – Smiles by Hogan

Tyler Alderman, DDS

Born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia he earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at Marshall University. He then went on to attend West Virginia University School of Dentistry where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery with outstanding achievements in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. He is extremely patient-based with particular expertise in surgical & restorative dentistry. His passion for implant dentistry has led him to achieve notable proficiency in full mouth reconstruction including extraction, grafting, and implant placement.

Dr. Alderman is passionate about helping others feel a greater sense of well-being and radiating confidence through oral health. His personal goal is to establish close rapport with each and every patient by providing a strong level of communication and empathy. He is married to his beautiful wife, Brooklyn, and together they have two energetic young boys and an adorable and spunky little girl. Outside of patient care, Dr. Alderman spends most of his time enjoying the outdoors with his family and entertaining with friends.

What services does a general dentist provide?

Our doctors and staff provide routine preventative care such as periodic exams, dental cleanings, periodontal cleanings, and diagnostic x-rays. We also offer a wide range of restorative and cosmetic treatments like fillings, dental crowns, bridges, dental implants, porcelain veneers, and teeth whitening. Fortunately, our doctors are also trained and qualified to provide specialty services, including orthodontics, extractions, dentures, and laser gum surgery.
I hate the dental drill. Can the doctor use something else?

If you fear the dental drill, you are not alone. Our doctors take time to work with you to overcome your dental fears. You will be put at ease as soon as you enter our office. The good news is that we use air abrasion in our practice. Air abrasion utilizes a tiny stream of aluminum oxide particles to remove tooth decay and is often more comfortable than a traditional drill.
Is there anything that will help with my dental anxiety?

Dental fear is very common. To help, we provide oral conscious sedation to relax you for your procedure and ensure you get the proper treatment you need.

Does Your Office Use Lasers?

Yes. Many kinds of lasers are used in today’s dentistry, and we use several of them. We have a DIAGNOdent laser that detects cavities. We can scan each of your teeth for decay instead of only using an explorer. We also use a soft tissue laser for several gum treatments, including gum grafts, crown lengthening, and to treat gum disease. When using a laser, we do not need stitches to close incisions, and bleeding is minimal – making for far less invasive procedures.
